Born in Asmara, Eritrea, he has lived in Bologna since 1960. A gynaecologist and a scholar of Bahá’í spirituality, he has published essays, translations, and poetry in both Italian and English. His major works include The Eternal Quest for God (1989), Towards the Summit of Reality (2008), The Bahá’í Faith and the Perennial Mystical Quest (2008), Destiny and Freedom in the Bahá’í Writings (2010), and Storie di gloria, di fede e d’infamia (2019), alongside several poetry collections such as Remoteness (2001), Chiaroscuro (2019), and The New Garden (2021). His poetry weaves together personal memory, African landscapes, and spiritual and metaphysical inquiry, shaping a language that is sober, luminous, and musical.
